Our setting is Sorrento in the second half of the 19th century, young Antonino chooses the seminary as his vocation, but an existential affair leads him to fall in love with a young local girl and he is forced to abandon his ecclesiastical career. So he decides to make use of what he has learned in the kitchens of the seminary, and in 1878 he transforms two rooms into a small trattoria and calls it “La Favorita”. |
 Friends immediately begin to go frequently to the trattoria enjoying typical Sorrentine cuisine and give him the nickname which was to become the name of the restaurant 'O Parrucchiano as it is currently known, which in Neapolitan dialect means “the parish priest”.
Having no children of his own, Antonino asks his nephew Giuseppe to help him continue the business, and together they continue to prepare dishes with the aroma and flavours typical of Sorrento. In the 1940s, ‘O parrucchiano leaves the restaurant to his young nephew who, with his own clear ideas re-aunched the business, and its historically popular cuisine, to make it famous throughout the world.

| In the 1960s Giuseppe decided to build his first hotel, assisted by his three sons all barely over twenty years of age. The result of much work and passion of several generations over more than a hundred years is today the “Manniello Hotels” chain, which is comprised of:
Grand Hotel Royal, Grand Hotel Ambasciatori, Grand Hotel Capodimonte, Grand Hotel De La Ville, Ristorante O' Parrucchiano. Even today, members of the third and fourth generations of the Manniello family directly manage the properties, proud to be at service and to offer professionalism and efficiency in pleasant relaxing and familiar surroundings. | |
